Richard Schimpf was born and rasied in Rochester, NY. At an early age he developed a passion for building and design. Engineering was an obvious choice to study, and the reputation and unique program of Penn State AE drew him to Happy Valley. Richard is in his 5th year of the Architectural Engineering program, with a focus in Construction Management. He will graduate in May, 2012 with a Bachelor's of Architectural Engineering.
The past three summers, Richard has been involved with the construction industry in various positions. During the summer after both his sophmore and junior year of college he worked in the field as labor for Empire Precast in Rochester, NY. While it was hard work, the experience of working from plans to install precast pieces on many different construction sites in the Western New York Area provided valuable experience and insight into the construction industry. The on-site knowledge gained proved to be an asset in future endeavors. This past summer, he interned at NICCjv, a joint venture between North Island and Centennial Contractors. He worked in their offices on the Joint Annacostia-Bolling Base in Washington, D.C. His responsibilites included assisting Project Managers with estimating, scheduling, and quality control.
Richard's passions extend beyond the contruction industry. In his free time he enjoys such hobbies such as running, tennis, reading and traveling. |
